RARE LINCOLN WHITE HOUSE SERVICE COVERED CUSTARD C. 1861. Comprising an exceedingly rare Limoges porcelain custard cup and cover from the "Solferino" or "Royal Purple" state service, as it became known, of Abraham Lincoln (President 1861-1865). Designed by Mary Todd Lincoln, Haviland & Company, Limoges France as imported by E.V. Haughwout & Company, New York, 1861. Of bulbous form on raised spread foot, the side with spread winged eagle clutching an olive branch and cluster of arrows in his talons. Above, a wide purple band, and the shoulders set with leaf-form handles and with gilt banding, gilt dot pattern and Alhambra gilt tracery. The bell-shaped dome lid similarly decorated and set with arched handle terminating in four gilt decorated leaves. The underside with indistinguishable incised marks and a diamond pattern of 4 dots. Height 3.75 inches, width including handles 3.6 inches. Exceptionally rare.

FINE SLOOP OF WAR WOOD MODEL SHIP C.1890'S. Comprising a finely handcrafted three-masted polychrome and wood sloop-of-war model ship made by Dr. James Grant Gilchrist (1842-1906). Of good proportions and accurate plank-on-frame construction with detailed rigging, individually carved boarding boats, cannons, masts, and rigging. With hand-stitched silk American flag. Length 52.5 inches, width 13.5 inches, height 40.75 inches. Accompanied by a custom-made wood carrying box. The ship was built by Civil War veteran and noted physician Dr. James Grant Gilchrist (1842-1906), who enlisted in the 40th Pennsylvania Militia in July 1863, studied medicine, became head of surgery at the University of Iowa, and was later appointed Colonel in the 3rd Regiment, Iowa National Guard. A good model in original untouched condition.

RUSSIAN KUZNETZOV NII CORONATION BEAKER & UNDERPLATE, 1896. Comprising a rare matching set, both beaker and plate, of the Kuznetsov glazed ceramic Tsar Nicholas II coronation beaker and plate. The beaker of cylindrical tapering form with mauve translucent glaze, featuring a raised crowned shield depicting St. George with olive and oakleaf wreath. Above the raised inscription, “In Memory of the Holy Coronation.” On the left side, the crowned cipher of Nicholas II, and on the right that of Alexandra. The matching plate with beaded rim, the border also with a crowned and wreath-encircled shield depicting St. George slaying the dragon. The underside of each with Cyrillic impressed M.S. KUZNETSOV, the plate further impressed 1877, and the beaker 1878. Diameter of plate 9 inches (22.86cm). Height of beaker 4.75 inches (12.07cm). Rare to find a matching set. Both in excellent condition.

TSAR NICHOLAS I IMPERIAL RUSSIAN GLASS. Comprising a very rare clear crystal shot glass engraved with the crowned cipher of Tsar Nicholas I (1796-1855) beneath a laurel banner, and on the opposite side engraved with the Imperial double-headed eagle, likely the Imperial Glass Factory. Height 2.5 inches (6.5 cm). Together with a red ruby-flashed shot glass engraved with an intertwined cipher EK and, on the opposite side, the date April 21, 1906. Height 2.75 inches (9.5 cm).

A FINE & IMPRESSIVE MONUMENTAL RUSSIAN ICON. Comprising a large, impressive and finely painted icon of the Kazan Mother of God masterfully painted in the Moscow Armory School style. The borders ornately decorated with silver and gold leaf medallions, and the corners painted with the Four Evangelists, each depicted holding an open book inscribed with the beginning text of each of their Gospels. The head of the Virgin and Christ child encircled with a 19th century finely crafted repousse and chased gilt copper double halo, the painted icon likely being from 2nd half of 20th century. Together with an ornate carved and gilt-wood frame. The icon measuring 49 x 38 inches (124.5 x 96.5 cm). Overall including frame 61.25 x 50.5 inches (155.58 x 128.27cm).

17TH CENTURY RUSSIAN STROGANOV SCHOOL ICON. Comprising an icon depicting Saints Prokopiy and Ioann of Ustyug, C. 1680. Both Prokopiy and Ioann were given the distinction “Holy fools.” On the left Prokopiy holds a pair of fire pokers held with the heads up therefore foretelling a plenteous year while Ioann holds a scroll. Above them in the clouds is Christ imparting a blessing. On the upper margin is inscribed “The Holy Blessed Prokopiy of Ustyug” and “The Holy Blessed Ioann of Ustyug.” 12 x 10 inches (30.5 x 25.5cm).
