Dr. Manmohan Singh graduated from Medical School in Amritsar State, Punjab, India. He was licensed in both general surgery and psychiatry. He eventually settled and practiced medicine in Springfield, Illinois and was loved by all who knew him. While Dr. Singh’s vocation was medicine, his advocation was clearly the pursuit of knowledge in the field of American European, and Asian art. Dr. Singh was a fixture at Midwest antiques shows and well known to a multitude of auction houses. Over a period of five decades Dr. Singh amassed a unique collection of art and antiques from most every culture with a particular interest in Austrian/Bohemian Art Nouveau glassware and well as Asian arts of all types and American and European paintings.
This fabulous auction offers something for every collector featuring a wide variety of items (over 750 lots) from various cultures from around the world all sold at NO RESERVE. Featuring a spectacular offering of Austrian and Bohemian art glass circa 1890-1910, including Loetz, Kralik, Pallme-Konig and others. Over 150 lots of good Asian arts including Chinese and Japanese, porcelain, silver, bronze and carved ivory, featuring a good assortment of snuff bottles, okimono, cloisonne enamel, carved Jade, woodblock prints, Qing dynasty and Edo period porcelain and related items. Also, over 150 lots of sterling silver including European, American and Chinese export. As well as over 50 miniature portraits, 25 KPM and Berlin hand painted porcelain plaques, American and European bronzes, and decorative arts including a good amount of Tiffany gilt bronze desk wares.
