Underside of base with likely the early mark of Hayashi as illustrated. Height 24 inches (61 cm).

The rectangular form with tapered sides, banded with elliptical reserves, decorated on three sides with gilt embellished corn and on one side a grasshopper. The overhanging fitted lid with medallion reserve, depicting a spectacular parrot resting on a corn stalk. The interior also lacquered with gilt flecks. The underside artist signed Midorijima Saku.
