PETERSBURG 1896-1908.  Comprising a silver and enamel breast star of the Order of St. Alexander Nevsky with central circular reserve applied with the crowned monogram "SA" within a border inscribed in Russian "FOR WORK AND MOTHERLAND" on red guilloche enamel ground, within a circular border atop a large silver sunburst. Verso with hallmark for St. Petersburg 1896-1908, maker's mark of Keibel beneath the Imperial Warrant and 84 silver standard. 9 x 9 cm.

The verso with view of the Winter Palace and the dates 1838 and 1839 and on the lower margin the artist's name H.Gube. Diameter 33 mm. The offered medal was instituted on December 1838 and awarded to participants of the repair of the Winter Palace after the December 1837 fire. Diakov 551.

RARE SILVER IMPERIAL RUSSIAN EMANCIPATION MEDAL 1861.  Comprising a rare silver medal issued For Efforts in the Emancipation of Serfs, the obverse with image of Alexander II beneath the inscription "I Am Thankful" and above the date 19 February 1861. And the verso with the text, "For Efforts in the Emancipation of Serfs." Diameter 28 mm. These silver medals were issued to members of the regional noblemen committees for "placing" serfs as well as secretaries of these committees. The medals were struck in 1861 at the St. Petersburg Mint. It is believed that only between 650 and 1000 silver medals were ever made. See Diakov 704.1.
