Russian Department Researcher/Translator
Nina Ivashchenko was born in the city of Odessa, in Ukraine. She studied at the University of Dnepropetrovsk in Ukraine where she earned a degree in engineering. Upon the marriage of her daughter Tatiana Ivashchenko-Jackson to James Jackson, she moved to the United States in 1995 and became a permanent resident of Iowa in 2004. Nina is fluent in both Ukrainian and Russian. Moreover, she is fluent in the aforementioned languages in their pre-Soviet syntax. Additionally, she has a working knowledge of Old Church Slavonic which helps her in her role at Jackson's as researcher and translator of vintage Russian, Ukrainian and Old Church Slavonic texts of the type often found on icons.
