Sending Property to Jackson’s for Auction

If you are unable to bring items to Jackson’s for auction, our experienced staff will arrange for one of our trucks to transport your items to us. We are well-versed in expertly packing and shipping antiques and fine art, thereby ensuring property arrives safely to our gallery. Fees for this service are simply deducted from the proceeds of your sale.

Commissions, Fees and Consignor Payments

Jackson’s sells property for consignors on a commissioned basis. The commission is based on a per item sliding scale. Jackson’s is very competitive and for exceptional quality items will meet or beat any comparable rate. Payment is made to consignors within thirty (30) days of the auction. For those who prefer not to consign at auction, Jackson’s can often offer assistance in arranging to sell items privately.

Financial Services

In certain cases, Jackson’s can provide the seller with an advance on consignments. These advances consist of cash up front with the balance available after the consigned items are sold. To learn more about financial arrangements, contact our Client Services department.

Comprehensive Research Library

Our corporate research library consists of over 3,000 volumes of publications dealing with a vast variety of fine art and antiques. We also subscribe to various online research services covering a wide range of antiques and art subjects. This extensive collection provides our staff with instant access to materials used to identify items brought to us for auction. In addition to our own in-house library, Jackson’s has access to the University of Northern Iowa’s multi-million volume collection, providing materials not generally available to the public. This vast amount of research material ensures items are properly identified to reach their full market potential.

Heirloom Discovery

Our Heirloom Discovery service is a popular service for museums or antique and trade shows. Jackson’s hosts a number of discovery events each year which have appeared regularly on television. This identification and valuation service is offered free of charge and is helpful to both the novice and advanced collector. At such events, Jackson’s has discovered rare and extremely valuable items previously destined to life in a dusty attic or dark basement.
